Answers

Can I work on my boat while it is in the building? Yes, with some restrictions. We do not allow any type of sanding or spray painting operations inside the building. If you need to do bottom paint or varnish sanding we will move your boat outside for you.

How warm is it in the heated building? We keep the building at 50° during the winter months.

Can I have my own mechanic work on my boat? It depends on what he is doing. If it's warranty work it usually is not a problem. However if he is performing a task that we also offer, we would like the opportunity to at least quote the job. All outside contractors are required to provide proof of insurance. We have existing agreements with many outside contractors; the standard is a 10% markup for outside contractors to perform work in our building. This markup covers Boatworx Inc. costs of lighting, electricity etc.

Do you really need LOA measurements? Yes! We need to know how long your boat is including swim platforms, bow pulpits and your beam to make sure that all the boats fit in the building and that we do not oversell our space.

What if I want to see my boat launched or hauled out? We ask that you schedule your haul or launch with Tracy. Scheduled haul out and launches are available on Tuesday through Thursday during the day weather permitting.

How does the launching process work? Simply call us and let us know when you want to pick up your boat. We will launch it prior that date have it re-commissioned washed and tied to our dock. If there are boats behind you in the building that want to launch, we will call you and offer you two options: 1) You may have your boat launched and tied to our docks to await your arrival. 2) You may choose to have your boat moved outside to await launch. For obvious reasons we prefer to launch your boat.

When is your haul out and launch season? We typically start haul out as early as after Labor Day but usually it really gets started the first week of October. Launch starts about April first. Remember the FILO rule "First In the building Last Out of the building". For assistance in timing please see Tracy.

Do you have fuel? No, please come in with your tanks at least ¾ full. In many cases we are launching boats before the local marina is pumping fuel. We do not allow any gas transferring from tanks to your boat when the boat is in the water.

I sold my boat in January and need to get it out what do I do? If it is in the front row and its not too cold we will pull it out for you. If not, there will be labor fees associated with moving boats to get yours out and if it's weather permitting. If you think your boat will be sold during the winter please tell us in fall and we will make every attempt to keep you in the front of the building.

I need to have you perform repairs to my boat, how does that work? Let Tracy know in fall when you come in so the work can be scheduled accordingly, even if it's work that needs to be done in spring. Our goal is to have all work completed by end of March so we can concentrate on spring launch. If you require an estimate we will be glad to get one to you.
